BCGA 2010 Cache Blitz - Finalized Timeline Announcement
Posted by: teddy2k on Monday, March 15, 2010 (05:05:11)

The BCGA is excited to announce the official dates for the 2010 Cache Blitz. There have been a few modifications since the last announcement from scruffster on December 16, 2009.

May 1: Official Blitz launch events. We will also celebrate the 10th anniversary of geocaching at these events.
May 2: Publishing of Blitz caches begin. Cachers are free to start finding them and placing votes online.
June 13: Publishing of new Blitz caches ends. No caches will be accepted for the Blitz after 11:59pm on this day. Cachers continue finding and voting for caches.
August 1: Voting ends. No further votes will be accepted after 11:59pm on this date.
August 14: Official Blitz wrap-up events. Votes have been tabulated and winners will be announced.

It's our hope that the extended timeframe for the Blitz will allow more cachers to hide caches and to find and vote on other caches. Additionally, with the hiding period ending far before the voting period ends, we expect that those caches hidden close to the June 13 cut-off date will still get an ample number of votes to be in the running for awards.

No other information is available at this time, but a committee has been formed to work out the rest of the details. We hope to have more news for everyone very soon.
