I hope this is the right spot for this post and that it hasn't been cover here or else where. Anyone using the Garmin 76CSx having the same problems as me? On a regular basis mine will show a oppsite screen showing north as south east as west ect. also it will freeze kind of. The map and pointer will not move but my positioning will change. Hard to explain but say the cache is showing behind me if I do a 180 it is still showing as being behind me. If I get moving in the right direction it will still show it as behind me but I will be getting closer to the treasure box on the screen. Problem comes and goes but it gets annoying. Any help anyone?

Thanks

How close are you to the cache and how zoomed in are you on the unit? Do you have the most recent software loaded onto the unit? (from the map page: MENU, MENU, SETUP, SYSTEM, MENU, SOFTWARE VERSION). Ver. 3.60, as of Feb 18, 2008 is the current version.

Do you recalibrate the compass every time you change batteries?
We also have the 76CSx
We were told to do a recalibration by someone who read about it in a message board.

Go to setup/calibration/compass and follow the instructions.

You have to turn slowly in one direction 2 times.

We have had several people ask us what we were doing as it does look kind of silly in a crowd Wink

I have been far away from the cache up to 1km and been within 100m zoomed in all the way and zoomed out. Have the latest 3.60 ver. I read somewhere to back to the older ver. but not sure if that is a good idea or how to do it. Never heard about recalibrating the compass I will try that it may help as the last time it screwed up I check the compass with my regular compass and it was a bit off.

thanks
