We're wondering if it's a no-no to place caches on what may be considered "native land" here in BC.

What we were looking at is Brae island (fort langley - by the Ferry) the entire little island is reserve from what we understand. Quite often here in BC many public parks and so forth are on reserve land. We wouldn't want to place them in the reserve areas that are used for living accomodations.

But we've also noticed that there aren't many caches that we've seen on lands that fit these descriptions. Being that Chilliwack and many other areas of BC fit this - what are the guidelines for using the public areas - like parks that fall on reserve land?

I think there is already a multi that takes you around part of the island, the "public" part anyways. Plus I think one of the Spirit Quests has it's finish on Brae Island. Not sure how much more room there is on the island...

Two Spirit Quest caches end on the island, as well as a third - Fort to Tavistock. I think the downstream side of Glover Rd is GVRD parkland, with the upstream side being band land.

The best thing to do if you wish to place a cache on known Native land would be to contact the band office. That way if there is any sensitive areas, you would not be accidentally showing disrespect.
