I'll be visiting BC from Ireland for about 10 days in a few months time. I'm hoping to have quite a bit of time to do some caches in the area, and am currently trying to put together an itinerary.

I'll be arriving in Vancouver, heading east towards Kelowna and Vernon, then to Whistler, and finally a few days in the Pacific Rim Park/ Long Beach and Victoria.

So are there any areas around there that I should absolutely check out? I enjoy country caches more than urban ones, and like ones with a bit of a walk (although nothing too long or strenous). I'd imagine there are quite a few caches with nice scenery and the like around your area.

Oh, and I will of course be renting a car!
Any advice you could give me would be great!

We have so many great caches in the lower mainland of BC. If you want a nice series of country caches check out the Somthings fishy series by Chillibusher. These are all located allong the chilliwack river. They are nice easy walks and the mountains should be spectacular this time of year. If you send me a message through Geocaching.com I can send you a list with the GC numbers for lots of great caches in the areas you are interested in. Smile

Most welcome to visit Vancouver Island. My wife and I were lucky enough to be able to visit Ireland a few years ago (eight) and found out for our selves just what a wonderful country it is. We were there for three and a half weeks and loved every minute of it. We rented, with my brother and his wife, a cottage on the shores of Dunworley Bay, in County Cork. (hence my handle). We put over 2000 miles on our rental car, saw a lot of both Ireland and Northern Ireland (My wife has cousins in Garvagh) and had a great time. Met tons of really good people, swapped many lies, visited the pubs, and of course, drank the beer. I managed, sinlge handed, to lower the national supply of Guinness by quite a margin.
When your time to visit gets closer, let us know and if you would like a guide for some local caches in the Nanaimo-Mill Bay area, write a note in the forum and we can make some kind of arrangements. Take care.

Thanks for the help!
Glad you enjoyed your holiday here Dunworley - I hope I will soon be able to same similar things about yours! Although if you visited 8 years ago you will surely see a lot of changes here now, especially in the cities!
I might take you up on your offer when I come over - thank you!
