So what's with the security login? I tend to just rattle off my name & password and I find that I am having login errors because i have to now enter the security code...is this totally necessary?

Quite a few web sites have the additional security field to complete as this prevents automated programs used for spam and other junk from getting past the simple USER ID/PASSWORD scheme.
This additional field randomly creates a new password every time, something the bot programs can't handle.

I would assume if the webmasters have added this extra security field then they would have had some concerns about being targeted by such bot programs.

Believe me, you'll be much happier you don't get all the extra spam come through to the forums......
