I am planing to do the West Coast Trail (port Renfrew to Bamfield) in 2 weeks time (june 28) and I am wondering what caches to do. I plan to hit up the new earthcache, but other than that, I'm not sure if the others fall along the trail route. If anyone has done the trail (and cached it), (or has not) please give some input!
Thanks, Jojo88. Vancouver

It's my understanding that most of the West Coast Trail is in a National Park. Until recently no caches were allowed in National Parks. There are restrictions even today. So, I'm not sure if there are geocaches along the trail yet.

If you plan on placing a geocache in a National park, it is important to note that you must get the geocache container approved by the park staff. You give them your real name and phone number. When publishing the cache on geocaching.com you have to supply documentation that you have permission to place a geocache in a National Park or the cache will not be approved. You also agree to be ultimately responsible for the geocache, its maintenence and you agree to remove the cache if asked by the National Parks staff.

Oh, that makes sense that there's not a W.C.T cache series or caches along the trail. But it doesn't explain the other 5 or 6 caches in the national park. Maybe they got permission? I was thinking of placing a micro along the trail, but I guess I won't if I'd have to go to the trouble of getting permission. Thanks for the info!
