Swans of Lonesome Lake: [?] . You might remember a book called "The Caruso of Lonesome Lake" where Ralph Edwards saved the BC Trumpeter swans from extinction from the 1920's to the 1950s. It was almost required reading for our generation in elementry school in the 70s. Edwards cabin burnt down in the BC fires of 2004. [M | C]

too late for some one to make an event but someone might still enjoy going.
5 days from now
Meeting at: Top of pavement, Weigles Rd. Nanaimo (49°11'38.9"N 124°05'54.8"W)
The Doumont Restoration Project is teaming up with the Nanaimo Mountain Bike Club and the Tali Campbell Campaign Team for a massive group clean-up of the Cadillac Flats.
Cadillac Flats can be accessed by Driving up Weigles Rd to the point where the paved road becomes a dirt road. At this point, volunteers may choose to walk or bike up the dirt road to the Flats or drive up to the location. If you are not able to meet at the top of the pavement for 12:30, signs will be posted directing volunteers to the work site. Food and drinks will be up at the Flats but cell phone reception is limited higher up on the hill.
can also check out the FB page: Doumont Restoration Project and see the great work going on cleaning up the area
