I tried uploading a picture recently... and realized I had no idea how.

Any tips for me?

I presume you are meaning on the forums. Here is a snapshot. You can also upload one with news articles.

Hope that helps!

I didn't see those options. Am I doing something wrong?

Hmm . . . I presume it is available to everyone, just farther down the page.

Okay, I've done some reading and discovered there are attachments & images. I see the image option just above the message box, but those are uploaded from a public server, right? I'm just trying to upload a picture from my mac... and that makes it an attachment, I believe. But I still don't see any box or button or anything further down the page. Could it have something to do with my settings?

Sorry about that - I am often unaware of my "special powers" and when they are invoked - lol.

I have an idea to try but have referred it to the "higher power" ie: our illustrious webmaster to see if it will work.

Attachements are not inline display , they are just attachmets.
I think you can use BBM codes to link to external images,
or upload to coppermine, and link to URL of image.
No way to upload and imbed in one fell swoop.

The link directs one to the geocaching site.

But I discovered the rules in the bottom right corner of the forum page. And one of the rules says I cannot attach files in this forum. Now I know. But I wonder why.

That is a very good question. There must be an historical reason for it, perhaps there was a need to moderate uploads. Try this link again.

Yes you will have to host the images somewhere else and link to them with BB code as CB mentioned. Here is an image below.

This is linked and displayed using this code

Code::

You need to use the img tags surrounding your url if you want it to actually display, otherwise you will just end up with a clickable link like below.
