As has been discussed in the replies in that thread, this topic has been discussed to death over the years on the Groundspeak forums. The general response from TPTB is that the email notifications are not designed to take over for actually reading the cache page as there could be important information or restrictions that aren't conveyed in the email.

I can just imagine some of the FTF chasers getting the email notification (for example, after dark), entering the coordinates in their GPS and running off to grab the FTF, when there's a restriction listed on the cache page that says that you shouldn't seek the cache at night.

In the grand scheme of things, the email notification does have the link to the cache page, so you're 1 click away from all the information (including the coordinates).
