I was just wondering if anyone knew which cache was British Columbia's first ever cache? I emailed Groundspeak hoping they would have some kind of database that would be easy to figure out this info but apparently they don't! So I'm on a trek to find BC's first cache! Can anyone help me please?!

I believe the oldest cache was also British Columbia's first. It's called Treehugger and it's located close to the University of British Columbia. It was placed February 2nd, 2001.

It was placed in 2001 not 2002.

That one's on my to-do list along with the Original Stash and Groundspeak Headquarters Smile

Its easy to find out with a PQ, by just setting the filters right. Here are the 9 oldest still active caches in BC

www.geocaching.com/see...6953aaa718

They are listed by closest to geographical center of BC, so just look down the hidden date to sort them yourself.

Here is the PQ that generated it, edit it as you like to see more...

www.geocaching.com/poc...6953aaa718

GC only allows a maximum search radius of 750km, so depending on where you place your center point, you may miss some.

It's even easier without using pocket queries.
Click on view newest caches in BC on the geocaching.com,
and then click on the >> arrow, and you will get the oldest active caches in BC.

Great tip, dios. Just tried it and proud to say I've found B.C.'s 3 oldest caches.

This works great for BC, but we are in Alberta right now. Is there a fast and easy way for us to find oldest in Alberta??

Sure there is - here you go Smile

GCA6 - Strathcona Wilderness 1
www.geocaching.com/see...Submit6=Go

Go to Hide and Seek a cache, and search by country. When you click on Canada, it will ask you which province. When you click the province, it will give you all the caches in the province, starting with the newest. Click on the >> icon, and you will go the back of the line, which is the oldest caches.

Thanks so much DIOS. It is just awesome to have help on things and so fast. Hope to get Alberta's oldest cache on our next days off, if its not under snow.

You just happened to have caught me in the middle of a polite debate on Canada's 2nd and 3rd oldest cache - we thought sask-cache-one was, but the one in AB is.
And trying to answer your question helped me learn how to manipulate info myself, so thank you!
