Swans of Lonesome Lake: [?] . You might remember a book called "The Caruso of Lonesome Lake" where Ralph Edwards saved the BC Trumpeter swans from extinction from the 1920's to the 1950s. It was almost required reading for our generation in elementry school in the 70s. Edwards cabin burnt down in the BC fires of 2004. [M | C]

On Sunday Bowser98, MrTJ and myself did the walk along the riverside in Surrey Bend Regional Park next to the Barnston Island Ferry dock while we searched out the 4 caches in the area.
Many of you may know of these caches but have had reservations in hunting for them; the oldest cache (and farthest) has been hidden for 4 years, yet only receives a dozen or so visits a year.
There is a good reason for that; the trail is overgrown by brush and the occasional bramble, you have to cross a small creek that may or may not be crossable depending on the high tide, and where the bank skirts the river edge the bank is eroded away causing you to balance on a sliver of land above the river itself.
If you would like to read the full story and see the video of the trail, go to my blog with coffee in hand and spend a few minutes seeing what you may be getting into.
