I received this message today from NB geocacher George D:
Ron Boychuk disappeared on October 23, 2007 on his way home, while he was flying alone in a Cessna 172 plane. Ron departed from Revelstoke, Canada en route to the Vancouver Island community of Qualicum, Canada and never arrived. There is an effort being made to search Google Earth in hopes of locating the crash site.
This is the search site.
This site contains additional information.
I was wondering if the various Geocaching Associations in BC could advise their memberships to be extra vigilant. I was unable to find a contact for the BC Association so would it be possible for you to contact them?
I signed up on the internetSAT site and received an updated Google Earth image for an area. Sadly, it isn't as high resolution as those used in the search for Steve Fossett. If you have some spare time, it would be worthwhile to download an image and scan for anything that looks like it may be a crash site. The InternetSAR site provides search tops on the "Getting Started" page.
