You may have seen Icenrye talk about this on one of his videozine episodes; I finally got around to giving it a try myself.

Last night I signed up to EveryTrail.com, created an account, and posted a track file from our recent sojourn up Harrison Lake on our 92G TOPO Scavenger Series assault. Thanks to The Meridians for the track file.

Everytrail.com is a web site that allows you to upload a GPS track file; the web site then overlays your track file onto GoogleEarth and allows visitors to "zoom in" and follow along in the explorer's foot steps.

The really kewl part is you can download the track file your self to place on your own GPSr to repeat the trail that the first person travelled.

Have a look at my blog to see the map for the trip we just did up Harrison Lake and Lillooet Lake through to Mount Currie, Pemberton, Whistler, then home to the Fraser Valley.

130 miles of forest roads that changed from good gravel roads to washed out creeks with rough up hill sections in between, and fun all the way.

This is a great site; it has the potential to pass on to the next explorer the correct route to take in an unknown area. It could save time and perhaps prevent that person from being stranded in a far away place where Dial A Hint doesn't work.

Amendment to my earlier post:

To see the EveryTrail track route being utilized go to my blog and view it either on the blog, or click on the EveryTrail link on my blog to go to their web site and "surf" through the route up Harrison Lake.

Wow! Someday I would like to try this route but I guess I need a hardier vehicle. Thanks for posting it so we can all dream.
