Mrs Bug and myself just spent a week in Anchorage Alaska, for some caching, fishing and relaxation. Before heading up I was in contact with a bunch of cachers from the Anchorage area. They were very helpful on what to do in the area and places to stay at and good eateries. Needless to say we had a great time. While we only did 22 caches while we were there, we did enjoy caching in Alaska.
One of the highlights of caching was being able to see and claim this earthcache:
A very cool earthcache it is. Now on my list of one of my favorites. The scenery in Alaska ( I know I will hear about this) is just a beautiful as BC, just a little more rugged. We found caches from 40 km south of Anchorage to 100km north in the shadow of Mt.. McKinley.
I will post some pictures later. Fishing was great as was the caching. The cachers in Alaska are second to none. The food, well all I can say is I think I put on 15 pounds in a week. We stayed at a B&B were we were fed very well each morning. Then off we would go sight seeing and caching, around 2:00 in the afternoon we would stop for lunch and a wobbly pop and continue on our way, then when we got back to Anchorage we would go out for dinner about 8:00pm. Since the sun did not go down untill midnight there was plenty of time to see the sights. If anyone is comtempating a trip to Alaska I wold highly recommend it. Lots to do, high cache density for a state with only 600,000 residents. We are planning on going back.
