I was out geocaching around an old car and ended up putting a fairly deep scratch into the face of Explorist 500. Any suggestions on how i might be able to repair the scratch or at least minimize it. Sad

Hey Tom

That sucks! Think I know which cache that was. I would recommend getting a Shieldzone screen protector. Just google it. They have a sale on now too I think. These work really well and I believe one will hide the scratch quite well. Good luck

I know on the Meridian series you can not buy replacement screens from Magellan, you have to send the GPSr to them or an authorized service depot for R & R. I would imagine the Explorist are the same way.

The shields are a good idea to minimize scratches; I believe there is a thread on GC.com about this.

Do a google search on ipod scratch removal. I use Brasso and my Dremel tool to keep the pod clear. Toothpaste also works well and makes the pod smell minty fresh! Mr. Green
