It isn't easy to locate challenge caches in amongst all the other caches, so I recently ran some Pocket Queries and added all the BC challenge caches I could find to a bookmark list, which can be found here.

The challenge cache guidelines require new ones to be listed as the Unknown/Puzzle/Mystery ("?") type, but I know of one older challenge cache listed as a Traditional.

I'd like to ask all of you to check out my list to make sure I haven't missed any challenge caches, and also to let me know if you know of any old challenge caches that are listed as a cache type other than the "?" type.

I plan to update my list about once a month or so, but if anyone lets me know about a new challenge cache, I'll certainly add it right away.

Well done! That is an impressive list. Thanks for taking the time not only to compile it but also for sharing with us.

Here is one more GC3N9XP West Kootenay 365 Day Challenge, fairly close to Nelson Touque

Thanks! I had missed that one because the word "challenge" isn't spelled correctly anywhere in that cache description, so my searches didn't reveal it. While I was adding that one, I also found 2 others I had somehow missed (GC3R4MM and GC2T379), which have now been added. As of right now, I know of 73 active challenge caches in BC.

Just because a cache has the word Challenge in it's title - does that automatically place it in the separate category of "Challenge" that shows up somewhere on my profile page?

I did the ABC Challenge cache in Surrey years ago but as far as I am aware - I am credited with no Challenge caches on my profile. It was just a neat cache to do.

I see this "no show" as no big deal as I don't really pay much attention to many of the things that seem - from their names - to be required for the caches .

I think what you are wondering about is the difference between "challenge caches" and "challenges". Completely different!

Challenge caches are what you describe - the ABC Challenge where you need to find a certain combination of caches before you can log the find. This category of cache is (along with Earthcaches) the only time you can enforce the ALRs - additional logging requirements. The "other" challenges are what Groundspeak came up with a couple of years ago in answer to the demand to return the beloved virtual caches.

You can search for nearby challenges on most geocaching.com pages to see what is near you.

Confusing? Yep - you betchya.
