Congratulations to the Island Spirit 2012 - Westcan 2 Organizing Committee for putting on BC's first Mega Event. What a GREAT weekend!

~WELL DONE~

By the time the dust has settled there will have been somewhere between 750 - 1000 cachers in attendance. From the first hiking satellite event to the final CITO everything went smoothly, despite some last minute challenges thrown into the mix to make things "interesting" for the organizers who were able to come up with plan B's at the drop of a hat.

The BC Geocaching Association was pleased to be a sponsor of this incredible event. We met lots of folks at the BCGA registration event on Friday as they made their way inside, through the line and out to the concession. At our booth on Saturday we had a chance to chat with a huge number of cachers from both BC and around the world. We received 62 new membership applications with more to come. We had a chance to tell people what we do and answered questions about geocaching in BC.

We presented an Intro to Geocaching session led by cuddlefish assisted by PEARLWIND who managed to squeeze a large amount of information into a short one hour period to people who had as few as 1 find. Thanks for taking the time to help out!

Your executive (Magicman65, Fonty Family, HB-Vanislelady, and katcogo) were on site for the weekend, dividing their time between their friends and families, BCGA duties, caching, and putting on excellent magic shows (poor anakerose was unable to attend as she spent her vacation time on her honeymoon).

Special thanks goes out to the cachers who put in shifts at the booth:
