Ok, I can't believe that this site still has my registration on file. May of 2004? wow, that's patience!

I've got an iphone4 with the geocaching icon. It's fun! I went out yesterday and found one- first ever! all of 248' from my front door LOL

Holy View

I didn't quite know what to do with it so I put it back exactly how I found it.. (its wet) I figured that I'd come back here to figure out what the protocols/rules/appropriate actions re: finding a cache.

I'm lookin! Smile reading the faq's.

so what's a muggle? and what is stealth? I think the first term is some sort of monster from harry potter. The other is some sort of spy plane? LOL

Thx!

Mac.

Yes, a muggle is a term that comes from Harry Potter. In the geocaching world a muggle is anyone who is not a geocacher.

Often people ask that geocachers use stealth when looking for a geocache. This is usually when a geocache is in an area that has a lot of people around. All the cache owner is asking is not to bring attention to yourself or the geocache so that muggles will not find it and run away with it.

If you find a geocache that is damp. It is nice to help out the cache owner by drying it out. For that reason, I like to have some kleenex or a paper towel on hand. If you are unable to perform basic maintenance, then it is a good idea to alert the cache owner and future geocachers by mentioning it when you log your find. You can also post a "needs maintenance" log but that should be considered a last resort when the cache or the logbook is damaged beyond repair.

Oh yea, and welcome back, Mac. I'm surprised you remembered your password after seven years. **snarfle** I can't remember most of mine after a week.

Me too! LOL it was hidden in a folder in my hotmail account. I was really surprised that it worked, I would have thought that the lack of activity for seven years would have got me erased. Glad that it didn't!

Good ideas about the drying, I'll go back tomorrow if I get the time and dry it out. It actually might be dry, there was a plastic bag inside the item.

Thanks!

Mac.

Ok, my iphone4 show's an accuracy of 16-32 feet. I though what happens if I am searcing for a Cache outside of the cell reception area?

So I put the phone into airplane mode- New accuracy? 1.6 miles. hmmmm me thinks it's time to begin shopping for a dedicated gps Very Happy I love new toys.

So now I have a choice, pay the tax bill, or buy a new gps? it's agonizing! LOL
