My Car Power Adapter Cord for GARMIN GPSMAP 60 60C 60S 60CS 60Cx 60CSx GPS models has gone kaput.
I use the 60Cx model, not that it matters.
Anyone have one for trade for something?!?! or for sale?

The Discovery Gps location has moved to another location and it looks like they no longer do the 'courtesy' retail they were doing. Darn.

The Deakin outdoors outlet on Powell St. in Vancouver (between Vic and Commercial) had that kinda stuff a little while back. If not I had luck finding Garmin holders and wiring at the Backpacker store directly across Broadway from MEC. If not maybe GPS central in Call Gary? Hope this helps.

I bought mine, for an Oregon 200, through ebay for about ten dollars new, including shipping and handling.

Did the cord actually break? I know some of them have a fuse in them that can be replaced. It would be in the end that plugs into the cigarette lighter.

Yep - the fuse blew on my Garmin car adapter, and the darn thing cost about 4 bucks. I tried sticking a piece of an old screw in, and blew the cigarette lighter fuse in the car. Good thing I'm not an electrician!

Ta for the responses.
Sadly, not the fuse. It seems the wire just where it comes out from the 'lighter' plug part is has weakened/snapped . For a while there if I wiggled that end of the cord it would work if I got it 'just right' but now it's finished.
It was suggested that someone might have a cord they no longer use (if their Garmin unit was lost/kaput/whatever). Recycling!

Was hoping to save myself a drive to Vancouver as I just don't have much spare time right now. I know about Deakins and the Broadway outdoor stores.

Oh well, it didn't hurt to check if one is out there unneeded.

Have you tried The Source (Radio Shack)? They carry Garmin and compatible accessories. www.thesource.ca

what kind of end does it have? I know that our walmart has an older garmin adapter for sale, but I'm not sure it's the one you need.

They've listed the model they need. The package at the store should say if its for that unit.

I'm surprised they don't use a more universal cable for these GPS's, like ones for phones...

If it's the cord near the lighter plug it could be cut and re-soldered onto a new plug. I could do that for you.
Is it a USB connector on the GPS end?
My 76Cx uses a standard USB connector/cable

We have one!

Chris lost his 60Csx and the almost new car adapter is still in the drawer. Actually it's not really lost, he just hasn't been able to find it for a year Kiss .

It's the one with the 'round' plug, right?

Yes, the car cord with the round plug end for the gpsr.
Thanks mucho Landsharkz !
... I've been so busy lately I haven't had spare time for chasing around. Glad I followed up on the suggestion to ask here as that's exactly the thought: that someone has lost a compatible gpsr model and so had a cord sitting there doing nothing. And so it is.....

I also discovered an interesting tidbit about the fuses. Never touch them with your bare hands. To use a glove if you have to handle one. The sweat/oils of our hands is detrimental.
