Benchmarks are only listed in the US. In Canada you will find them on Waymarking.com.

Pretty much the only way to find these while being in BC is the border markers along zero ave.

Am I correct in the assumption that they show up as a separate line (NGS Benchmarks) in your "Geocaches Found" column but in fact do not count in your "Total Caches Found" tally?

I believe I figured that out when I did 14 along Zero Ave - before I was "met" by a US Border Officer. Seems someone was watching when I waved at a camera attached to the back of one of those monuments. Big Brother indeed!! lol

You are correct, they do not add to your find count.

It took a while for me to find the survey marker log/search site. I had to sort through the Canadian Benchmarks categories to find the right category, I even submitted 2 makers that I found while geocaching. Once I found the category page for Canada I saved it as a favorite. Its handy to see if there are any survey markers in the area we plan to geocache in.

If you go to the login page "here" and log in using your GS handle and password you should be taken to this page "Logged in" This is where you can "post a new Waymark" that you have found as well as log existing ones you have found.

It is not the easiest site to navigate, takes a bit of doing.
There are some really dumb catagories in my opinion, I don't think there is a need to waymark every McD in the world.

Have fun, I hope this info has helped.
