Just thought I'd take a moment to let everyone know how things are going with Metro Vancouver Parks. We've now completed 2 of the Intro to Geocaching sessions and both went very well!

Pacific Spirit Park - May 8
This session was VERY well attended and was run by myself, Kelly (TESKELLY), Anthony (Aerodoq) and Jacqueline (Cuddlefish). We had 22 people in the group and the weather couldn't have been better! We ran them through the basics of geocaching, showed them numerous different containers and also gave them a crash course on how to use the BCGA GPS units. Aside from the real caches that are hidden in the area, Anthony and Jacqueline had placed some temp cache prior to the event, so we had quite a few caches to find. All in all, everyone had a great time.

A HUGE THANK YOU to Anthony and Jacqueline for helping make this session a success!

Capilano River Regional Park - June 5
We really fluked out on the weather today... I was expecting rain and we got beautiful blue sunny sky instead! This session was run by myself, Kelly and Kathy (katcogo). Although we had 23 people signed up, I was notified in advance that 5 of them wouldn't be able to make it and in the end, 7 additional people didn't show up at the designated meeting point either. This made for a small group of 11 people, which also allowed for more personal time with some of the people. Prior to the session, the 3 of us walked the park and Kathy had hid several temp caches for the group to find. All in all, the groups ended up finding most of the temp caches and several real caches before time ran out. Topics that we covered included the history of geocaching, geocaching basics, the geocacher's creed, explaining the various types of containers and a crash course on how to use the BCGA GPS units.

A HUGE THANK YOU to Kathy for helping make this session a success!

Our last session of the summer is coming up on June 26 at Campbell Valley Regional Park. From where we stand now, we do have enough help for that one, but if that should change, this is where we'll post.

That's all for now!
