Well I have had a couple people ask and I'm glad to let everyone know that we (Teddy2k and Grafinator) will be doing another Amazing Race event. More details will follow once we can publish the event. We will not be taking teams until then, but we are looking at allowing more than 20 teams this year.

Mark your calendars!!!

For those who didn't attend last year the event link is below.

We heard great things about this event and this year (so far) our schedule is open Very Happy .

The Time Bandits (Ickster, CASM327 and Landsharkz) talked about participating in 2009, but schedule conflicts precluded us attending. Since you're doing a #2 ( Jester ), we will talk again about entering our team from the island. I'm sure this GeoRace won't be anything like the Extreme Team competitions, but our group works together well and we know our strengths and weaknesses, so we may as well make a**es of ourselves in unison!

Is local area knowledge an advantage when it comes to trail access, mis-marked streets (non existent), etc? Maybe that's an island thing, but our GPS often tries to route us down a street that doesn't exist!

OK, I'm off to Time Bandit HQ to see what comes of this crazy notion.

Local area knowledge might be a small advantage, but with the race spanning over 3-4 cities it's hard for teams to know all locations. We try to add a mix of giving teams GPS coordinates and location names which is more like the amazing race.

I am planning on making a team up this year, if the date isn't changed it should be good. This is my wife's favorite show and she is even interested.
Just wait I think it's on soon bye!

Our team of three( my mom, my cousin, and myself) are 80% percent commited to attend this year. Sounds like as lot of fun as we are all fans of the amazing race and have always wanted to participate in that.
We are ready for everything that comes at us, exept for me and spicy food! Chef

It sounds like this is based on a TV show?? We don't watch TV, so Chris and I have no clue what this show is about. Is that an issue?

Hey Mrs Landsharkz, This will not be an issue at all. The show has teams racing around the world to different cities having them find locations and doing different tasks.

We're still in the 'thinking about it' stage, but we'd better get the wheels turning faster I guess!

Question: Should people bring their own watercraft - yak or canoe on roof rack? What about bikes?

Are we talking some distance swimming, or wading in some water say up to waist level or such?

Darn plans! Everything has changed and we won't be able to make unless our relatives cancel their trip. Sad
Wish I could come, it sounds like fun.

Last year a team member needed to swim out a short distance to a buoy is a swim area. Also a team member needed to slide down a water slide. It is not mandatory to do water tasks, there will be a small time penalty if you opt out of doing it.
