Today at Goldstream Provincial Park near Victoria, under beautiful skies, GeoTrek 2009 was launched in a small media event with the Minister of Environment, Barry Penner. Minister Penner described how BC Parks loves supporting geocaching, a new and innovative way for people to enjoy the parks. Chris Edley, BCGA president was also present and described how proud the BCGA is to be able to partner with BC Parks and Project Blue Sky to bring together Geo-Trek 2009.
This year, 100 caches have been hidden, approximately half in Provincial parks and approximately half in communities... placed right across the province, with a sprinkling in far away locations, to give people in other parts of the world a tiny taste of BC caching.
Look for Blue Sky caches as they get listed later today. Inside you'll find geocoins, pins and other cool swag. Please take no more than one geocoin... if you find a coin in one cache, please leave the coins in other caches for other people. Also, please trade fairly... last year some caches got cleaned out. These are regular caches, please make sure you leave swag for other people.
Most of all... have fun. This initiative promotes carbon friendly geocaching. Visit ProjectBlueSky.ca to log your carbon reducing activities! full article
