After spending a few hours trying to round up the info maybe this would be easier. I found a troubleshooting guide but it is so small and hasn't a zoom for it so it's unreadable, arrrgh.
Last week caching in heavy rain my Palm Zire 72 got damp and quit working. Next day it seemed to be fine but the "tapping" wouldn't open some functions or opens the wrong ones.
And there was a blue star flashing in the upper left corner on every page opened. I can't round up what this means.
Now it "works" sort of. Tapping opens the application or function either below the one or second of what I'm tapping on. Certain things won't open at all like being able to look at Cachemate pages.
Any ideas or knowledge out there? Could it be as simple as replacing the battery? Or worse...?
Thanks in advance...

Ever notice how once you ask for help it often becomes unnecessary? Life eh?
Finally found an online manual that was readable and tried to do what it said except "tapping" opened nothing at all. I couldn't even unlock it.
Reset it finally but it still wouldn't work.
Perseverance and finally could re- digitize it. Slowly and by repeating it/them over and over the functions are slowly all coming back. But still not trustworthy or reliable. I'll keep trying.

Sounds like you may need to refresh the screen size. I had to do that to my old Palm Zire 30 a few times - after accidently making the area to tap about the size of a pin head. Now I get other problems with an HP Ipaq that won't synchronize most of the time. Trade ya problems !!! lol
