For all of recent hides, I make sure that the cache is hidden above ground or protected from the snow and then I add a log to the cache, adding a clue in case snow drifts are a problem. So many caches are put out without taking snow, freezing, and winter winds into account.
When searching for caches, I also find it helpful to bring my poles with me and poking around in the snow often results in that familiar "tink."

I hope to be able to do your "Ridge Lakes" cache by snowmobile this year.
I was close by "Rick's Cache 2" over the New Year, but I didn't have any geocache waypoints in the GPS at the time.

Ridge Lakes cache will need a shovel and some luck. That one was placed without snow cover in mind. I was looking for a stump or a higher location, but couldn't see one. It is close to the road/track though. If you get it, I'll be impressed!
I have been trying to add a log as to the difficulty of each cache for a winter find. This one and Rick's Cache are both at ground level making them a harder find. Ricks cache coordinates are also a bit off.
Finding Interior Caches in deep snow isn't easy. The micros are usually higher up and more feasible for winter caching.
